WHY I created this course
When I was planning my in-person conference, I would wake up having night terrors about Porta Johns...yes, you read that correctly.
In March 2020, I was hosting my first in-person conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. I spent about a year and half planning The Bright Side Conference and it was always detail after detail that piled up. I spent tens of thousands of dollars on event planning services, AV, food, insurance, travel, lodging, decor, signage, trampolines (idk why- I really wanted trampolines). Needless to say, the bills to run an in-person event kept piling up.
Then, a week before I was supposed to host my event with 350 people...COVID-19 hit headlines everywhere.
I think you can guess the ending of this story- but we had to cancel the Bright Side Conference because gatherings were banned. But, I made a gametime decision to turn it virtual. I didn't know how, but I gave myself 30 days to figure it out (isn't that how it always goes? You just commit to figuring it out?).
My goal was to just retain the 350 signups that we had (we gave them the option for either a full refund or partial refund if they wanted the virtual conference).
But 30 days later...I had 3,500 signups for the Bright Side Virtual Conference. 10x what we had registered for the in-person conference!
And not only did our sponsors not drop out, more sponsors joined for the virtual conference because of the greater reach.
When we switched to virtual, we were able to grow our:
